Easter Day 3

I still haven’t posted the pictures of the plot, the problem is they are on my camera and I have to transfer them to my tablet and then to WordPress.  Maybe I will do this tonight.

Today I have potted on my Cosmos and Calendula, it took what seemed hours – well actually it was hours but its done and I now look forward to later seeing the happy Cosmos flowers and their feathery foliage.  I am growing Calendula for the allotment to attract bees (some of the Cosmos might move up here too and certainly some of the sweetpea).  I have been inspired to create a pretty and bee friendly allotment by Mandy Barbers video ‘Vegumentary’ which you can see on her website Incredible Vegetables.  She talks about what she is growing and takes you around her plot and it all just looks so pretty with vegetables and flowers mingling together.

This afternoon I also planted Seakale and Kale Asparagus. I just saw a fabulous write up of Sea kale growing wild in Scotland which you can find at the address, Gallowaywildfoods – Sea Kale.  It is a perennial and one of James Wongs picks for flavour but I got my seeds from Chase Organics through the Garden Organic website.  Am looking forward to these beauties growing.

With dinner tonight we had some roast potatoes from last years crop, there is only a small number left and these had got left up the plot in one of the sheds as they were not great quality wih some eel worms.  However, cleaned up with not so good bits cut away they were lovely.  Do potatoes improve with age I wonder?
